Job Description

Ocean Import Operator - Shipping & Freight - Derby - Up to £32,000.About UsOur client is a long established Freight Forwarding provider across multiple sites. The office is a relaxed but professional atmosphere and a great working environment. They offer career stability and career progression.As Ocean Import Executive you will report directly into the Multi-Modal Imports Manager. You will be responsible for arranging and managing the transportation cycle by air and ocean and to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed. You will be legally acceptableto Customs to allow clearance and entry into the country of destination.Ocean Import Operator - The Rewards

Ocean Import Operator - Requirements
  • Experience working within Freight Forwarding, ideally Air and Ocean
  • Candidates with Ocean Freight experience is a MUST
  • Participate in the annual performance appraisal and objective setting
  • To work in accordance with all company policies including Health and Safety, Employment, Staff etc
  • To have a detailed knowledge of and apply the companys Business plan
  • Support the Business Development Team / Key Account Managers as necessary
  • Good communication skills, as youll be liaising with a variety of people, clarity in communication
  • Organisational and planning skills
  • Teamwork, tact and good interpersonal skills
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Sound industry knowledge
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Problem-solving ability, particularly when working under pressure

Ocean Import Operator - Responsibilities
  • Obtain charges and cargo release details from agents, airlines and shipping
  • Submit customs clearances using CDS
  • Responsible for ensuring any payments due are made in advance of any shipment
  • Process all payments and raise necessary paperwork for accounting purposes in line with company requirements
  • Arrange the release and transportation of goods received to cargo
  • Liaise daily with agents, partners, suppliers and clients to ensure the smooth and efficient discharge of their duties
  • Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and
  • You will be expected to negotiate terms and rates, so it is important that you have previous
  • Experience in this area and are numerate
  • You must also be familiar with industry standard computer programs and be able to operate
  • standard systems pertinent to the job
