Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Laser Operator for a Aerospace Fabrication company based in Derby.As a Laser Operator, your main responsibilities include supporting the initial stages of product manufacturing and production batches. You will use your experience and a proactive approach to ensure various components and assemblies are laser-cut promptlyto meet deadlines. Additionally, you will collaborate with internal teams as needed. Your role is crucial in achieving customer satisfaction by ensuring that manufacturing processes and products consistently meet the quality standards set by our internal procedures,customers, and regulatory bodies.Hours -Initially: Monday to Thursday: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Friday: 7:00am - 12:00 pmWill move to 2 shifts:- Monday to Thursday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, Friday 6:00 am to 1:00 pm- Monday to Thursday 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Friday 1:00 pm to 8:00 pmRoles & Responsibilities:

  • Support process and product improvements.
  • Ensure material substantiation test pieces are cut periodically as instructed.
  • Complete all machine TPM checks.
  • Perform first-off in-process validation of products cut.
  • Support the creation of data cards in conjunction with the onsite special process engineer.
  • Support the identification of root cause of non-conforming product and the implementation of corrective and preventive action.
  • Participate in meetings including daily SQCDP production board meetings.
  • Liaise with production personnel and supervision as required.
  • Comply with all relevant internal rules, policy & procedure including those related to health & safety, business management system, data protection & employee handbook.
  • Support for NPI and Producibility projects.
  • Any other reasonable request.
Qualification & Skills:
  • Competent in 5-axis and flatbed laser machining techniques.
  • IT literate to intermediate level.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Inquisitive and challenging mindset with an attention to detail.
  • Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with 5-axis and 2D laser machining.
  • Knowledge of Nadcap special processes.
  • Familiar with MRP systems.
  • Understanding of regulatory approvals such ISO 9001, AS9100.
  • Familiar with customer requirements such as Rolls-Royce, Boeing, Pratt & Whitney.
