We work to ensure their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting change to theirlives.About the Role:The Changing Lives Service is part of a national trailblazer project, funded by the Government as part of its ambitious plans to transform children and young peoples mental health as cited in the NHS Long-Term Plan.Changing Lives Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) offer early intervention mental health support to children and young people in schools.Our MHSTs work with 0 to 17-year-olds with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. We help them manage low mood, anxiety, sleep problems, stress and change. We also support 18 to 25-year-olds who have left care or who have special educational needsand disabilities (SEND).We have bases in 6 schools across Derby and Derbyshire which offer support to the children, their families and the staff and all their feeder schools.As a Family Support Practitioner youll be given full training to enable you to be:

  • Working in the team to deliver the programme to groups of children and families.
  • Working collaboratively with parents/carers and children.
  • Providing children and families with information and skills to help them support their needs through a variety of challenges.
  • Empowering families to make positive changes.
  • Supporting the day to day running of the bases.
What Youll Bring:Our job description for the Family Support Practitioner outlines the requirements of the role but the must-haves are:
  • Relevant NVQ level 3 or previous experience working with children and families.
  • Experience of working with children and families.
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to be part of a team and multi-agency working.
  • Flexibility around rota.
  • Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
  • Access to a car. The role requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
