Job Description

Assistant Quantity Surveyor required for our client who are one of the UKs largest and most successful Surface & Highways Companies based in Derby. Despite being a large organisation, the company prides itself on the close knit, familyrun culture that promotes an excellent working environment. The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be working on arrange of surfacing projects such as Highways, Retail, Rail, Aviation, Commercial and Defence.The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably within the highways or Surfacing industry. Further to this, it is essential the candidate holds a CSCS card and has NEC 3 option A, B and C experience.Assistant Quantity Surveyor Position Overview

  • Be able to hit the ground running working on own projects
  • Ensuring effective cost planning and commercial management during the entire life cycle of each project
  • Measuring works produced by contracting operations and subcontractors.
  • Application of Lean principles. Overseeing the project life cycle from inception to completion and ensuring due regards to health, safety and the perception of the company to our clients and staff
  • Working as a Subcontractor on projects
  • Measuring works produced by contracting operations and subcontractors
  • Measuring and paying subcontractors and other suppliers in accordance with their terms and conditions of contract.
  • Producing timely cost/value reports that monitor the financial progress of contracts or elements thereof and cost / values of contracts giving overall business performance Manage and comply with all Health and Safety requirements
Assistant Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or construction related discipline
  • General understanding of contract law
  • Good knowledge of surfacing
  • Experience of working as a subcontractor
  • Experience in contract negotiation
  • General understanding of contract law
  • Experience of producing reports on a monthly basis
  • 3 years experience within the construction or Surfacing industry
  • Full UK driving licence
Assistant Quantity Surveyor Position Remuneration
  • Salary up to £28K depending on experience
  • Company car
  • Holiday 25 days per year plus bank holiday
