About the team:National and Specialist CAMHS present an exciting opportunity to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Psychologist to a full time band 8a post within the multi-disciplinary Intellectual Disabilities Team (IDT) based at the Michael Rutter Centre. The IDT is one of four streams within the Service for Complex Autism & Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorders (SCAAND). SCAAND is an NHS England funded specialist Tier 4 service for children and young people with autism and complex mental health difficulties. SCAAND is one of very few services in the country that provides this specialist Tier 4 service.The IDT see young people with complex mental health needs including high risk behaviours, physical disabilities and autism, in addition to an intellectual disability. We have an additional funding stream for young people with mental health difficulties and a learning disability without autism. The service sees children and young people to provide comprehensive assessment and treatment, as well as providing advice to assist local teams in planning for the future care of the service user.There is significant representation and expertise from Clinical Psychology across the three SCAAND Teams and more widely within CAMHS at Michael Rutter Centre. Opportunities for continuing professional development are encouraged and supported by the service. The service supports development of knowledge and skills relevant for specialist practice and research, and has worldwide leading experts in research in the neurodevelopmental field.About the role:The successful applicant will promote psychological awareness within the team, and work closely within a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team with skilled clinicians from a wide range of disciplines within the SCAAND service; clinical psychology, behaviour therapist, psychiatry, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and a National Autistic Society (NAS) consultant specialist teacher.The post holder will work very closely with other disciplines in the delivery of comprehensive complex assessments and evidence-based therapy programmes; teaching and training; and assist in team audits, research, service evaluation and clinical governance of the service supported by an Assistant Psychologist. The role includes a combination of direct clinical work and consultation to other local agencies and services supporting the children, young people and families. The post holder will also have opportunity for leading on supervision of trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement within the LDT Team.The successful candidate will have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and be registered with the HCPC.Key priorities of the role include:
