Job Description

Senior Biomedical Scientist in Virology – King’s College Hospital Working in partnership with our service partners, Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospitals and King’s College Hospital, we aim to set the standard for the future of pathologyKing’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of London’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals, with a unique profile of strong local services and a focused set of specialist services. King’s has a Foetal Medicine Unit, Liver Transplant Unit and a large Obstetric department, is South East England’s largest Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, and is one of four designated Major Trauma Centre’s in London. Over the last 170 years, King’s has delivered nothing but world class service to all its patients from deprived communities as well as some of the wealthiest in London.We are also IBMS approved for pre-registration training in Virology.An exciting opportunity for experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist specialising in virology/molecular diagnostic testing has now arisen for the position of Senior Biomedical Scientist. This role has been created to support the virology laboratory management team during this busy time. As you are aware we are one on the leading virology laboratories in London and the UK providing a comprehensive serology and molecular service including high throughput COVID (SARS Cov-2) testing.Working with our operations manager, other senior biomedical scientists and clinical team will give you an opportunity to gain valuable experience in quality, health & safety, IT and operational management.You will need significant experience as a biomedical scientist working in serology or molecular virology and will be required to supervise shifts in molecular.This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to work as part of a dedicated and friendly team.Your development and learning You will have a suite of learning opportunities available through the Scientific Learning and Development Fund and the ViAcademy through which you can receive funding for advanced qualifications.Through our Innovation Fund, you can apply for finance to get that new innovative scientific project off the ground, and participate with the wider scientific community through symposiums, conferences and other peer group meetings.To learn more about this opening, please see contact details below or simply apply through the application process.Interviews will be held on 11th March 2021.For further information, please contact Diana Bate, Virology Operations Manager at
