Job Description

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of Kings Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 12,600 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London and Kent.The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley, Orpington Hospital, and some services at Beckenham Beacon and Queen Mary’s Sidcup.The Trust is recognised internationally for its work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac, haemato-oncology, fetal medicine, stroke, major trauma, and Emergency Department.We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic candidate who is able to support senior managers and consultants. This complex but rewarding position will involve communication and coordination with other departments within the trust and also within the wider NHS environment. The candidate should have excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work accurately whilst meeting deadlines.Candidates should have a good level of education and proven organisational skills and be proficient in typing at RSA level III or equivalent. This is a hectic and varied post with no two days being alike therefore the candidate must have a sound knowledge and experience of working within a healthcare or an academic environment.It is essential that you have knowledge of medical / dental terminology and are proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You will need a good working knowledge of EPR, D-scribe and PIMS as well as NHS Mail.The candidate will have specific responsibility for the management and organisation of the consultant’s clinics, electronic diaries, and will be the first point of contact for the departments, hence a professional approach, excellent telephone manner and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as within a team environment is an essential requirement.
