Community Link WorkerLocation: HMP Channings WoodHours: Full time, 35 hours per weekSalary: £18,685 to £23,230 per annum depending on experienceContract: PermanentOur client is looking for a Community Link Worker to join their team at HMP Channings Wood. The role of the Link Worker is to create pathways with drug and alcohol support services within the local and wider resettlement areas, encouraging a client’s continued engagement in recovery by bringing resources into the prison, and by arranging throughcare within the community ahead of their release. The post holder will work closely with community substance misuse services to ensure a smooth transition and, where appropriate, will liaise with community healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care on release.Day to day duties will include agreeing joint working arrangements (e.g. care pathways, referral mechanisms, information sharing, joint reviews, matching interventions) with community services, facilitating Prison/Community Forums, running release preparation groups, and identifying less traditional’ opportunities for recovery activities (for example, to take up hobbies or meet new people).What the organisation is looking forThe successful applicant will have an understanding of substance misuse problems, and a recovery orientated approach. You’ll have experience working with individuals to develop, implement, and review action plans and will have delivered a range of evidence based substance misuse psychosocial interventions. You’ll be confident running groups and will have competent group work facilitation skills.An effective communicator, you’ll work closely with other related professionals, producing detailed written reports. A qualification in a relevant field (e.g. health and social care, psychology, nursing or community development), whilst not essential, would be an advantage.
