Job Description

Join a niche Medical Devices organisation with high quality Urology and Stoma Care products and a first-class home delivery service!Our client is in search of an empathetic, enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join their Stoma Care team. Working primarily at the Durham and Darlington Hospitals, you will deliver high quality, evidence-based care to all patients who require surgery, and whohave or may require a stoma - both within the hospital and the community setting.This is an excellent part time position, working 15 hours per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8am to 4pm)Requirements for the Nurse

  • You will be a Registered Nurse (NMC Registered).
  • Colorectal or Stoma background (or specialist knowledge in the care of the colorectal surgical patient).
  • You must be able to provide evidence of continuing professional development and demonstrate commercial awareness.
  • Flexible to meet patient and service needs.
  • Ability to plan, implement and manage own time effectively.
  • Ability to interrogate data and formulate advice, plans of action and reports.
  • Confidence to present a positive image of self and the Company Computer literate.
Role Responsibilities for the Nurse
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised nursing care of the patient with a stoma or fistula.
  • Liaise with appropriate hospital staff to facilitate the provision of high-quality care to all patients who have a stoma.
  • Act as the patients advocate, through effective support and information enabling them to make informed choices and decisions concerning treatment.
  • Liaise with the community and continuing care teams providing a seamless service between hospital and home.
  • Act as an expert resource for nursing staff involved in the care of patients with stoma/ colorectal disease, providing support, guidance, and teaching programmes.
  • Identify and utilise resources or facilities at local or national levels.
  • Convey knowledge of organisations who provide extra support for this specialised client group.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with current best practice.
