The Company offers integrated mobility solutions to businesses, fleet operators, insurers, OEMs, and other customers across six key areas:vehicle rental, vehicle disposal, vehicle ancillary services, repairs, accident management, and vehicle data.About the RoleTo undertake design, development, testing, deployment, and support of quality software solutions to meet the groups operational and business requirements, thereby enabling maximum business benefit.When asked, perform code/design reviews on peers work to ensure standards are being followed and suggest alternative solutions/approaches.The Application Developer will have a high degree of expertise in analysis, programming, data access/retrieval, and problem-solving.The Application Developer has knowledge and experience of multiple development toolsets but may focus on one or two to an advanced level.The Application Developer understands more than one system they support but may focus on one or two to an expert level.What you must do

• Plan individual work, highlighting priority clashes to the Project Manager / Business Analysts and reporting status regularly within projects and through line management
• Work as a member of a cross-functional project team. Input to maintaining and improving the development standards, code templates, processes, etc. This also includes staff training, estimating tasks, workload planning, tracking status, and providing statusreports
• Deliver the above to agreed delivery dates, highlighting issues that may prevent completion well in advance. Assist colleagues to resolve any issues that may prevent the delivery of individual tasks
• Work with Business users and Business Change to identify issues and solve problems
• Assist other teams as required, for example, assisting with DB changes, conceptual designs, estimating work, detailed specifications, and troubleshooting
• Ensure deployed applications are suitably configured and scaled for production purposes
• Recommend and implement configuration changes in deployed software, in partnership with Infrastructure Services teams, to ensure system SLAs are met
• Out of hours application support duties when required
• Where unable to resolve issues, using initiative to highlight in a timely and appropriate manner
• Code, document, unit test, system test, and bug fix software solutions based on requirements and agreed processes and methods
• Perform code/design reviews/system testing of peers work to ensure processes, methods and standards are being followed, and communicate required changes to them and their line manager
• Actively participate in developer meetings. Champion the continual improvement of development standards and tools. Prepare and present new ideas regarding standards or coding practice
• When in contact with the wider business, reflect the IT department as a service provider, supporting and helping the business to achieve its aims
• Take personal responsibility to keep up to date with current regulatory and legal compliance requirements of Group activities

To be successful in this role you need

• Case Management System knowledge - Eclipse Legals Proclaim Development would be an advantage
• Exposure to RDBMS concepts
• Experience in developing software solutions in a structured programming language
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write technical documentation to a high standard
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good planning skills
• Positive, pro-active attitude
• Insurance/Accident Management/Fleet Management/Debt Recovery industry experience (Desirable)
• Working within a call center environment (Desirable)
• Previous experience of working in a regulated environment and understanding of compliance and legal regulations (DPA, AML, etc.) (Desirable)
