Job Description

Children and Families Team Leader - MidlothianHours: 36 hours per weekSalary: £26.00-£40.00Location: MidlothianContract: 6 MonthsThe Social Care Community Partnership are currently recruiting for a Children and Families Team Leader on a 6 month contract with Midlothian Council. The purpose of the Team Leader will be to manage and oversee a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality,systemic services that respond to the needs of children and their families at the earliest opportunity and to ensure the effective planning, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of services in association with other key partners across Midlothian. The TeamLeader will also promote an environment where each child and young person is enabled to get the most from life, to contribute to their social, physical and mental wellbeing in a holistic way.Key responsibilities:

  • Manage allocated resources effectively, ensuring that a high level of service quality is delivered to meet service user needs, in line with Council policy and procedures and government guidance. Manage budgets and expenditure within agreed levels and controlthe proper disbursement of payments.
  • Take the lead in building positive, co-operative working relationships with service users and families, colleagues and partner agencies. Collaborate with partner agencies on project and service developments that promote positive outcomes for children andtheir families.
  • Develop service user Care Plans and packages according to Council policy and procedures and government guidance. Recommend financial allocations for substantial care packages to Resource Panels for approval; refer to line managers those cases that exceedthe pricing policy expenditure limits.
  • Plan work activities taking into account the needs to prioritise tasks, meeting statutory requirements to ensure best outcomes for children and their families
  • Contribute to the formulation of the Service Plan; ensure that agreed objectives are embedded in the teams annual work programme in line with the Councils policies and priorities.
  • Provide induction, advice and consultation to designated staff to develop and strengthen their skills, knowledge and practice as autonomous practitioners.
  • The role holder will maintain a portfolio; this involves developing a detailed knowledge of particular professional area(s) as agreed with the line manager (e.g. early years, mental health, transitions), and be a key contributor to service development aroundthese areas. You will be responsible for ensuring that the service is kept up-to-date with relevant policy and guidance in that area.
