Job Description

The words cook and social life dont often go together. Well, not this time. With this job you will not work evenings, you will only work 5 days a week, and you will not be under heavy pressure and stress.Join the new service, The Woodmill in Cullompton, where you will be preparing and cooking lunch and dinner for staff and service users. You will also provide guidance and training to your peers.Its a calm and pleasurable working environment, where youll be able to manage your workload and enjoy creating meals. Theres a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.Just imagine home in time for dinner every night. Two days off a week. And not stressed to the hilt.Your responsibilities:

  • Ensure that food preparation meets all food hygiene standards and company policy
  • Line managing all catering staff through monthly supervisions and annual appraisals
  • Supporting the catering team by recognising training needs and arranging for training
  • Manage kitchen stock levels and stores, ensuring all food is correctly marked and robust stock rotation systems are in place to comply with food hygiene regulations and company policy and procedures
  • Prepare, plan and deliver new menus
  • Complete and maintain the appropriate Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and HACCP checks
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Relevant qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar environment
  • Previous experience in delivery service on mass
  • Basic food hygiene knowledge
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and Fire Regulations.
  • Knowledge of menu planning and costing.
  • Previous supervising experience
  • Capable of moderate physical activity, i.e. lifting saucepans, standing for long periods of time
