Job Description

About the Service / DepartmentKingston Mental Health service provides accommodation and also floating support support to adults aged 18+ with low to medium-level mental health needs.The service operates with collaboration at its heart, working directly with service users to promote independence and wellbeing with an ultimate focus on recovery. All service users are in control of their recovery and staff supportindividuals at a pacethat suits the user.About the roleThe Team Manager will oversee a team of 12 support workers and 25 beds acrosstwo 24 hrs services (staffed 8am-10pm Mon-Sun, with concierge serviceprovided 10pm-8am Mon-Sun). Housing Management for these services will beprovided by the Landlord.

  • To work closely with the Service Manager to ensure that Recovery Workers andPeer Support works listen and support people to de-escalate their immediatesituation empowering them to develop self-management techniques, buildtheir assets and advocate fortheir own wishes
  • To be supported by the Service Manager in the development, implementationand maintenance of partnerships and engagement strategies for the service
  • To lead Team Meetings and engage staff in reflective supervision outside of theoperational hours
  • To achieve the agreed standards of service delivery for the service incompliance with relevant legislation, external governance, contractrequirements and Hestia policies and procedures
  • To work with the Service Manager in planning, negotiating and managing thebudgets for the Cove
  • To provide effective and inspiring leadership, management and support to thesupport staff and volunteers in the Cove
  • To support the Service Manager to work with the Senior Management Team,including the Area Manager and Regional Director, to enable the organisation todevelop its aims and objectives by participating in strategic planning anddelivery processes to furtherorganisational policy and practice development.
  • To promote the aims, objectives and service delivery of the organisation, andrepresent the organisation by building effective relationships with the RapidResponse Service.
About you
  • Demonstrable experience of managing services for and people with mentalhealth and complex needs
  • Demonstrable experience of recruitment, induction, supervision, motivation,appraisal, training, discipline and grievance issues
  • Experience of performance monitoring and delivering consistently high serviceuser standards
  • Ability and experience of managing complex budgets
  • Understanding of Mental Health Crisis Management and the delivery ofservices to meet their needs and aspirations including working with peersupport workers
  • Excellent knowledge of Community Care, Mental health, Health and Safety andwelfare benefits legislation (including welfare reform)
  • Understanding of working in partnership with statutory mental health services
  • Knowledge of methods of assessing, formulating, implementing, recording,reviewing and monitoring service user support and assessment plans
  • Ability to positively promote the organisation at external events, includingdelivering presentations and creating marketing material
  • Good knowledge of MS Office systems
  • Able to use computer systems including case management systems to createaccurate reports and able to assess and audit staff ability to use computersystems to record client data accurately and to a high standard
  • Ability to write & interpret complex reports
