Job Description

Vocational Tutor (Plumbing and Decorating)CroydonSeptember 2023 StartA vibrant special needs college in Croydon is recruiting a Vocational Tutor to start in September. The position is full time initially via the agency, with the opportunity of a permanent contract for the right candidate. Working hours are 8am - 4pm Mondayto Friday.The college based in Croydon caters to over 90 students who have an EHCP for SEMH and associated needs. Many of the students at the college also have additional needs such as ADHD and Autism.They are looking for an experienced vocational tutor who is confident teaching Plumbing Level 1 and painting and decorating Level 1 to students in key stage 4 and 5. Responsibilities will include teaching both theory and practical elements of the course.You will monitor and report on students progress, while looking to maintain and improve standards. You will have a passion for supporting young people to gain vocational accreditation.Responsibilities/Job requirements:

  • Ideally a full teaching qualification such as a PGCE, DET/DTLLS or Cert ED
  • Experience of delivering teaching at Level 1
  • A Level 3 Plumbing qualification (though Level 2 may be considered)
  • Relevant Plumbing & Decorating industry experience
  • It is also highly desirable that you hold the Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement and also desirable for you to also hold a Certificate/Award in Internal Quality Assurance (if old qualifications are held (e.g. A1 or V1) it is essential thatyou are willing to update to the new standards)
  • Liaise with Vocational Manager and SLT where required.
  • Maintain quality standards and contribute towards internal and external verification as required.
  • Supervise, manage learners safely and securely whilst carrying out all activities.
