Job Description

Across a multitude of key departments, we maintain expertiseall integral to supporting central and academiesin areas such as Finance, HR, Data, Estates Management, Talent and many more. Main Areas of ResponsibilityThe purpose of your role will be to run end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring strict deadlines are met, in accordance with best practice, complex legislation and operating procedures. Your responsibilities will include

  • All stages of running monthly payroll, assisting payroll colleagues with pay run queries
  • Bulk data loads as required
  • Uploading P6s from HMRC
  • Validation reports for statutory payments and deductions
  • Pensions Automatic-Enrolment
  • Full control and reconciliations of all payments, including statutory and voluntary deductions
  • Staff and Third-Party BACS files transmission
  • Generating online payslips
  • Generating P45s
  • Statutory reporting and payments to Pension schemes (using i-Connect or similar for LGPS (MDC/MCR for TPS), HMRC, other governing bodies and third parties
  • Tax-year end processing and moving into new tax year
  • Year-to-date reconciliation of statutory payments and deductions for payroll and pensions
  • Uploading P9s, tax code uplifts
  • Statutory year-end reporting and filing; P60s, P11Ds/P11D(b)s
  • Technical system knowledge to support the maintenance of the payroll data integrity to ensure correct payments and deductions of employees’ pay. Including but not limited to:
  • Updating system tables in relation to pay awards, pay increments; LGPS and TPS pension bandings and rates; union subscriptions; new tax year period dates etc
  • Running relevant processes to ensure correct rates applied to staff records and implemented in a timely manner
  • Undertake system testing of quarterly Oracle upgrades and patches to ensure operational changes are fit for purpose
  • Logging faults and issues, working collaboratively to resolve issues
  • Undertake all necessary training to keep up to date with system developments and upgrades, to demonstrate appropriate skills and knowledge
  • Run and provide data reports as and when necessary

  • Knowledge of financial and payroll legislation, regulatory bodies and procedures associated with HMRC, DWP, PAYE etc
  • Extensive knowledge of best practice in payroll procedures, controls and compliance
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages, critically Excel
  • Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day-to-day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly
  • Experience of Oracle Fusion payroll software
