Job Description

Due to significant investment in the Interventional radiology service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW), an excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated administrative assistant with a passion for Interventional radiology to join our expanding team.We are looking for a dynamic individual to work as a Specialist ward clerk to support a growing service, working within a friendly multidisciplinary team.You will be expected to provide administrative and clerical support to the Fluoroscopy & Interventional Radiology Suite, assisting with the efficient flow and transfer of scheduled and emergency lists with the ultimate aim of effective and timely patient care. You will also be expected to provide and enable effective scheduling and admission of patients to the Fluoroscopy & Interventional Radiology Suite.The investment encompasses the full complement of the multidisciplinary team with expansion also for the Interventional radiologist, nursing and radiographer staff groups ready for the opening of our new state of the art department.University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) is a large 1400 bed teaching and major trauma centre. The Trust has 2 main hospital sites, University Hospital in Coventry and Hospital of St Cross in Rugby; and also provides a service for The City of Coventry Health Centre. Between them we care for over 1,000,000 people from across Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond. We are one of the largest and busiest NHS teaching trusts in the country.As a Trust we combine a number of key roles:

  • District general hospital services for Coventry and Rugby, our local population
  • Tertiary centre for Coventry and Warwickshire, providing complex specialist services for the sector and beyond
  • Provider of innovative and leading-edge clinical services to Coventry and Warwickshire.
  • The clinical base for The University of Warwick Medical School.
  • UHCW is a large PFI hospital which ensures a guaranteed equipment replacement programme. Consequently all the imaging equipment is replaced with top range systems on a regular basis resulting in a very modern department.The Interventional Radiology Suite within the Radiology Department has recently been completely re-designed. Building works are well underway and are projected to be completed in June 2021. The benefits to the patients of UHCW are significant and will provide one of the best overall IR suites in the UK with state of the art imaging equipment and procedure spaces with supporting anaesthetic facilities. The completed works will encompass 4 theatre/procedure rooms and a 7 bedded Radiology ward with monitored recovery space enabling day-case admission/discharge.In joining our dedicated and enthusiastic multidisciplinary team you will have responsibility for the timely, efficient and effective scheduling and flow of patients through the Fluoroscopy & Interventional Radiology Suite. You will act as the first line point of contact for the daily patient workflow, enabling effective communication of information within the multi-disciplinary team.
