Job Description

About the roleThe Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will join the CIDO Data Portfolio to provide technical expertise in the storage and management of CBS data.You will complete tasks to agreed levels of quality, within stated timescales with no supervision. You will seek improvement opportunities within the team and its processes/procedures. You will effectively prioritise tasks to ensure high priority activitiesare completed first.As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be an effective team member who will provide support and guidance to peers and other team members, who contributes to team efficiency through the creation of accurate technical documentation. You will be responsiblefor independently troubleshooting and resolving all product and infrastructure service incidents. Undertake technical tasks such as maintaining scripts, automated code, reviewing logs, assisting build and configuration activity, and maintaining the technicalestate. As well as being responsible for supporting change and implementation where appropriate technical competence has been reached and maintaining an enterprise view.BenefitsOur benefits include:

You can deliver clear and logical documentation for team members and end users to follow. You have a flexible approach to working hours, includingbeing part of a callout rota to meet own objectives and assist colleagues in meeting their objectives. You can work under pressure, be thorough with a good attention to detail and be able to deliver to agreed timescales.There will be the occasional out of hours support on a rota basis.And You Will HaveEssential Skills
  • Experience of working in a complex, pressurised production environment with proven delivery experience.
  • Solid experience of core AWS Cloud infrastructure including EC2, S3, ELB’s, Auto scaling, Lambda, RDS, VPC’s, Security Groups, IAM, Cloud Formation, Control Tower or equivalent Azure
  • Proven experience working within a Data space including exposure to Cloud native Data Lakes (or equivalent Third Party software), Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and the underlying data platforms.
  • Solid understanding of Amazon availability zones, regions and HA strategies or equivalent Azure
  • Previous experience of supporting virtualization technologies (or equivalent)
  • In-depth understanding of cloud-based architectures, specifically AWS or Azure.
  • Scripting/automation skills, particularly Terraform, PowerShell, BASH. Ansible Tower
  • Continuous Integration concept and experience (goCD, Github Actions or similar)
  • In-depth understanding of cloud networking security concepts, such as IP subnets, security groups, NACLs, routing, firewalls.
  • Familiar with Scaled Agile ways of working
Desirable skills
  • Monitoring and analytics APM tools (DataDog/Crashlytics)
  • Familiarity with the concept of infrastructure/software development paths such as AGILE and LEAN
  • Certified in AWS/Azure
  • Experience in use of CBS core platform technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD)
  • Previous experience as a NetworkLinuxDBAWindows system administrator building & supporting enterprise computing platforms and systems (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Enterprise level database solutions, such as Oracle and MS-SQL
  • Financial services or other regulatory environment experience would be desirable.
