Job Description

We are proud to be recruiting a Senior Buyer for our Automotive client who are looking to add some more horsepower to their Procurement team! The team is currently growing and so you would be joining at an exciting time of growth!You will be working closely with engineering and prototype teams, as well as other departments, so strong procurement and stakeholder experience is required. Ideally you will come from an Automotive or Manufacturing background, with a track record in strategicprocurement.This opportunity will be focusing on negotiation of short-term costs, long-term contracts and supplier management, so a holistic view of the Procurement lifecycle would be desirable. Ideally you would also be CIPS qualified or working towards, with similarequivalent qualifications considered.Responsibilities:
  • Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Responsible for commercial activities with suppliers on a short-term and long-term basis; negotiating costs, contracts, service agreements, rebates and other aspects relevant too.
  • Manage supplier relationships and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
  • To support in managing the procurement and expediting of established production and prototype parts within all functions of the business, while meeting quality standards throughout.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, market suppliers and changes to these that may affect the supply and demand of goods.
  • Will be required to think and act with strong commercial awareness and will use this skill across all functions of the business in an assertive yet professional manner
  • Prepare, define and execute innovative purchasing strategies in order to deliver the required value
  • To establish and implement a robust schedule of production parts where applicable
  • Responsible for planning, supply management, and inventory analysis
  • Work on new initiatives to improve supplier relationships and identify best value for money practices
  • To develop current and future new product strategies with Engineering and Manufacturing to optimise costs
Ideal Candidate:
  • 7+ Years in Procurement
  • Automotive or manufacturing background
  • CIPS qualified or working towards
  • Proven track record of strategic procurement
  • Experience in negotiation and stakeholder management
  • MRP/ERP system knowledge
  • IT Proficient
  • Strong commercial acument
