University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire’s Level III Neonatal Unit provides a wide range of services to sick newborn babies and forms part of the South West Midlands Newborn Network . The unit currently looks after up to 8 Intensive care cots, 9 High dependency cots, 14 Special care cots and 2 Transitional care cots. Our registered nurses all rotate between areas. We are expanding our SCBU and transitional care beds and we are looking for motivated nurses to join our team to help us achieve this.The unit provides family centred care to a range of babies from those born extremely prematurely around 23 weeks gestation to term babies who are sick at birth. We offer therapies such as Nitric Oxide and Cooling, using state of the art, new equipment.Over the years the unit has built an excellent reputation for high quality healthcare and outstanding career development. We support extended roles such as Transport nurses, Neonatal educational practitioners, Research nurses, Advanced neonatal nurse practitioners, Developmental care nurse & Infant feeding nurse roles. We also encourage development onto Mentoring and Management courses to help you progress to your career. Our team of nurses also help support parent resuscitation training, Sibling support sessions as well as monthly parent coffee mornings and yearly ‘Graduate’ parties. We are also proud to have a team of UHCW change makers on the unit who are given time to enhance communications between staff and higher management as well as promoting a social, nurturing environment for staff. Due to expansion and investment in our service as well as internal promotions, the units nursing establishment has been increased.
