Job DescriptionRole Title:Quality EngineerReporting To:Value Stream Manager (Direct) / Quality Manager (Functional)Direct Reports:Role Purpose:To support the Value Stream Manager and Quality Manager in the day to day running of the quality elements of the value stream, to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved and maintained, at optimum costs, in order to enhance both company performance andlong-term business development. To take a lead role in the preparation of new business activities within the value streams.Key Elements/Tasks· Maintain and operate within TS16949 quality system requirements in addition to customer specific requirements.· Apply Quality core tools to improve Customer satisfaction and prevent quality concerns· Maintain meeting structures to ensure full quality representation at daily ( Production System) meetings, including taking necessary actions to support the value stream· Conduct statistical capability studies· Conduct internal and external audits· Maintain and monitor the SPC management system· Produce and maintain core tools documentation including process flow charts, control plans, FMEA, and all elements of AIAG standard customer PPAP submissions, to an accuracy level adequate for customer preparation and discussion.· Support engineering in the commissioning of new plant and equipment.· Liaison and make visits to customers on quality issues from advanced quality planning processes through to problem solving/resolutions using 8D discipline.· Complete audits in line with current company audit requirements. This may include TS16949, ISO14001, or other audit methods.· Support the value streams on a day to day basis regarding local quality issues. Has authority to stop production when a clear breach of quality disciplines observed.· Involvement in R&R and MSA· Train operators in quality system, SPC and measuring systems requirements· Support engineering in FMEA reviews· Involvement in the introduction of gauging / inspection systems· Support Customer and 3rd party certification audits· Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of self and others at all times.· Any other reasonable duties that may be assigned in line with business needs. PERSON SPECIFICATIONRole Related Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Personal AttributesQualifications or Functional Experience Essential· HND Mechanical/Production Eng./Manufacturing or equivalent - minimum· At least 5 years experience within Quality Assurance Engineer role ( Automotive background preferred)· Automotive knowledge in SPC, FMEA 8D problem solving resolution and auditing.(Core tools)· Good knowledge of automotive new business practices (PPAP and APQP)Desirable· Six sigma knowledge (Black belt preferred)· Audit qualification - quality systems· Engineering degree· Good knowledge and understanding of TS 16949 and Customer specific requirements System or Knowledge Essential· PC literate with good working knowledge of Excel, Word· Customer Specific requirement and web site experience and knowledge essentialDesirable· Good working knowledge of Minitab OtherRequirements Essential· Full driving license.· Smart presentable appearance for meeting customers.· A full passport
