Job Description

Production Welder Coventry Up to £30,000 DOE SF Recruitment are recruiting for a Production welder to join our established manufacturing business based in Coventry. The successful candidate will be responsible to perform certified manual and fully mechanised MAG and TIG welding of various safety criticallight, medium, heavy carbon and stainless-steel fabrications manufactured from sheet, plate, and tube forms in steel and stainless-steel to regular production schedules from engineering drawings in accordance with written procedures and verbal instructions. Overall purpose of role: - Working in dynamic and varied environment performing certified MAG and TIG welding of various safety critical assemblies and fabrications manufactured from sheet, plate, and tube forms in steel and stainless-steel to regular production schedules. - Welding and fabrication activities are to be performed by manual methods and by setting, programming, and operation of fully mechanised welding lathe equipment and power sources. - Producing and inspecting fabrications in accordance to engineering drawings, written welding procedure specifications and verbal instructions. - Responsible for self-visual inspection of all deposited welds to meet ISO 5817 quality acceptance standards, minimum Level C. Key responsibilities: - Achieve and continuously maintain production welding certification to ISO 9606-1 and ISO 14732 standards through regular scheduled testing and on demand as required to demonstrate welding proficiency in various joints as applicable to production demands. - Read and interpret engineering welding fabrication drawings, symbols, geometric tolerances, and fit-up and fully weld various fabricated assemblies in accordance with drawings. - Assist maintaining and monitoring of welding and ancillary equipment and assist in troubleshooting functional issues or call for repairs on a regular and daily basis. - Volume production welding by manual and fully mechanised lathe techniques of a variety of small to medium size fabrications and assemblies using mix of fixtures and manual setup techniques. - To assist in producing or modifying supplementary fabrications and fixtures, support creation of standard operating procedures and participate with development of continuous product and process improvement programs. - Always maintain a safe and tidy work environment and cooperate with all management and Health & Safety measures or regulations as required. - Use of measuring equipment, hand, power and air tools, thermal cutting / heating equipment and lifting equipment. - Maintain records of production and quality documentation as required. - To perform production leak testing and any supplementary production inspections, repairs or assist in other assigned duties as necessary due to operational demands. - Assist in developing and improving welding procedures for new and existing products. Additional responsibilities: - Ensure that appropriate individual targets and objectives set are maintained in line with the companys personal development review process. - Regular and reliable attendance. - Assist with troubleshooting opportunities for improvement and implementation of corrective actions. - Use of computer to access drawings and instructions. - Willingness to train and flexibility to perform job tasks within the company aligned with the primary role and in additional work areas other than welding as requested by the company Experience. Essential: - - Proven history of volume and/or fabrication and welding experience by MAG process on carbon steels in fillet and butt joints in a range of approximately 2mm to 75mm for comparable quality and safety applications. Advantageous: - - Experience in welding of stainless-steel fabrications or other materials. - TIG welding of fabricated assemblies. - TIG welding of tubes. - Setting and operating mechanised welding equipment. 1. Skills Essential: - - Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and geometric tolerances. - Use of measurement equipment and inspection of parts, setups and finished components. - Use of hand and power fabrication and preparation tools and modular fixturing. - Competent in use of lifting equipment and overhead cranes. - Competent in use of Oxy-Fuel heating and cutting equipment. - Attention to detail and accepts personal responsibility for completing allocated tasks. - Good eyesight. Advantageous: - - Ability to work professionally in a team environment, under direct instruction by supervisors and on own initiative also offering support to others. - Working in adherence to written procedures. - Adept at problem solving and adaptable to new situations and challenges being open to change, new ideas and improvements. - Communicate clearly, ask questions, and demonstrate understanding of tasks and apply common sense to duties and instructions. 2. Education and Qualifications Essential: - - Recent or current ISO 9606-1 certification in MAG process, Butt & Fillet weld in various positions and product types. Other employer or standard certification schemes considered. Advantageous: - - Recent or current ISO 9606-1 certification in TIG process Butt & Fillet weld in various positions and product types. Other employer or standard certification schemes considered. - Prior or current ISO 14732 certification for mechanised welding. - Completion of a welding / fabrication or a relevant apprenticeship / training programme or qualification. - Visual weld inspection qualification.
