Job Title: Principal Engineer - Development & TestLocation: CoventrySalary: Competitive SalaryJob Type: Full Time/ PermanentMonday to Thursday 8:30-17:00Friday 8:30-13:30The RoleYou will be working towards developing & maintaining products in an efficient manner suitable for manufacture at the lowest possible cost whilst achieving required quality targets. Also, in continuous improvement on all engineering related activity alongsideassisting in product & process trouble shooting as required.Duties and responsibilities:* Work in accordance with QS9001 & ISO17025 requirements.* Assist in planning and prioritising work within the laboratory.* Extract, process & analyse raw test data and manipulate as required.* Apply relevant statistical techniques to test data (DoE, SPC etc.)* Establish and maintain uncertainty budgets as required.* Design test set-ups & rigs including control and data-acquisition using appropriate tools (e.g., DASYlab, LabVIEW).* Ensure preventative maintenance on instrumentation and control systems is up to date.* Conduct a wide range of product tests including static, quasi-static dynamic, durability & environmental tests.* Conduct and report CoP (Conformity of Production) tests to a pre-defined schedule.* Partake in design reviews when required.* Assist in Design Failure Mode reviews (D-FMEA)The Candidate* Practical experience within a mechanical / product testing environment* Experience of setting up and monitoring mechanical tests such as strength, durability, environmental etc.* Detailed & practical knowledge of electronic measurement and logging equipment such as load cells, accelerometers, LVDTs, amplifiers etc.* Detailed & practical knowledge of environmental (thermal) testing* Detailed & practical knowledge of calibration & measurement equipment* Practiced in extraction, processing, and analysis of test data* Experience within a ISO 9001 company environment* PC literate (excel, word, e-mail)* Knowledge & experience of DASYlab software* Understanding of H&S in the laboratory
