Job Description

Job title: Powertrain Performance Emissions Engineer Salary Range: £32.00 per hourHours: 37.5-hour week Monday to Friday Location: Coventry, Warwickshire 2 month rolling contract working for a leading automotive manufacturing business A Powertrain Performance Emissions Engineer is required to support the powertrain strategy to deliver conventional/ hybrid / electrification powertrains and related technology into passenger/commercial vehicles. The powertrain performance and emissions engineer will be responsible for carrying out performance and emissions related activities to either optimize existing powertrain technologies or implement new technologies with a view to maximise fuel economy and reduce emissions. Candidates with diesel turbo chargers/injectors and Boost or/and Wave tools knowledge would be well received.Due to new projects and workload this client based in Coventry requires an experienced, dynamic, leading Powertrain Performance Emissions Engineer to undergo a 2-month rolling contract role.As a Powertrain Performance Emissions Engineer, you will be required to:

  • Responsible for carrying out performance related activities to either optimize existing powertrain technologies or implement new technologies with a view to maximise fuel economy, reduce emissions.
  • Responsible for hardware development/specification of emissions critical components: Combustion system, FIE, Air handling (turbocharger and EGR systems)
  • Performing analysis (PT systems performance) and reporting on test results / data.
  • Responsible for detailed test data analysis for engine performance and emissions, investigation and reports summarising failure root causes and improvements.
  • Lead performance simulations for concept evaluation, turbocharger matching, and cam profile development, after-treatment development. Ability to direct studies on combustion, air path and after-treatment system.
  • Deliver technology assessments to maximize performance and minimise emissions on mule vehicles either on road or wind tunnels (CWT, FSWT, FE, Emissions testing).
  • The Powertrain Performance Emissions Engineer should have the following skills or experience:
  • Specific experience within engine performance and emissions development.
  • Hardware development/specification of emissions critical components: Combustion system, FIE, Air handling (turbocharger and EGR systems)
  • Experience of on road, test bed assessments, CWT/ FSWT/Emissions testing, performance analysis and reporting
  • Understanding of exhaust after treatment performance. Understanding and experience of DoE and emissions testing.
  • Good knowledge of combustion engine fundamentals. General powertrain understanding and appreciation for thermodynamics principals
  • Degree Qualified - Desirable
  • Working towards Chartered status or already chartered - Desirable
