This is an exciting post designed to offer specialist training and experience in Upper GI surgery, for trainees around the time of completion of higher specialist training. UHCW is a modern facility with all surgical specialties represented on site. There are excellent educational facilities.The post holder will occupy a key organisational role in the Upper GI team, which comprises 4 consultants, 4 middle grades, 2 CT grades, 2 FY1s and 3 ACPs. This post allows for development in skills in all areas of Upper GI surgery, including major Upper GI cancer resection, laparoscopic benign work, and bariatrics, as well as typical General surgery and endoscopic lists. UHCW is one of the UKs busiest Major Trauma Centres and the acute take provides excellent training experience.The successful candidate will participate on the on-call rota as the senior Middle-Grade and will be expected to deal with the majority of an unselected acute General Surgical take.UHCW has established Robotic services in colorectal, urology and HPB and is now developing an Upper GI Robotic service.
