Job Description

Seize a rewarding role as a Payroll/Finance Assistant in Coventry, overseeing the expansionof our clients payroll ledger. Enjoy a competitive salary of £23,000 - £26,000, complemented by benefits including 22 days of holidays, an Auto-enrolment Pension, and Westfield Health Insurance.Main Purpose of the Role:As a Payroll/Finance Assistant, youll spearhead the companys payroll processes, overseeing end-to-end payroll for approximately 140-150 employees with diverse pay structures. Beyond payroll, contribute to broader finance activities, encompassing AccountsPayable, Accounts Receivable, and financial reporting.Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processes using Sage systems, covering processing, HMRC returns, SSP/SMP, pensions, and apprenticeship-levy calculations.
  • Navigate intricate payroll scenarios, accounting for different shift patterns and calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations and company policies in all payroll-related matters.
  • Collaborate with HR to onboard new employees and manage changes in employee status.
  • Take ownership of the payroll ledger, anticipating and adapting to potential increases due to business growth or acquisitions.
  • Provide support in wider finance activities such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly VAT returns and maintain accurate records for VAT audits.
  • Reconcile various control accounts, including sales ledger, invoice finance, and bank accounts.
Key Requirements:
  • Previous experience managing complex payroll processes, including varied shift patterns and calculations.
  • Familiarity with Sage payroll systems.
  • Ability to adapt to changing payroll ledger sizes due to growth or acquisitions.
  • Experience in onboarding new payroll systems/acquisitions is highly desirable.
  • Eagerness and willingness to acquire new skills.
