Senior Clinical Psychologist (fixed term contract for 12 months)Spencer ward, Coventry (0.5 WTE, fixed term contract)Please also note, we have THREE permanent posts available in the service, all at 0.5 WTE. Please see the separate advert. It’s possible to combine the above post with one of the other three to create an overall post of 1.0 WTE; please call Eleni (details below) to discuss!BRAND NEW ROLE!Are you currently working in Acute Psychological Services and thinking about a change of service delivery area Or currently working in a community setting and wondering about returning to work in an Acute setting Or interested in supporting service users and staff in response to the Covid-19 pandemic Please get in touch to talk about working in Acute Psychological Services in CWPT!Working in Acute is a fantastic use of a psychologist’s skills and no 2 days are the same. If you are interested in working at different levels of systems, providing some direct clinical work as well as consultation, supervision and getting involved in new initiatives to improve service user experience, then please call us to talk further. We do not have targets for contacts, we do not have waiting lists, and we work closely with our MDT colleagues. Senior Clinical Psychologists are an integral part of the ward team, engaging in co-production with staff, as well as people who may use our service. We are particularly keen to hear from those people who have a strong recovery ethos, and/or who have experience of working with physical health conditions, and who are keen to collaborate at all levels of the system. This brand new post will be based on the new admission ward that has been developed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Anyone requiring an inpatient stay on one of our six treatment wards will first be admitted to Spencer ward for physical checks including a swab for Covid-19, before being transferred to an appropriate treatment ward, depending on the result of this test. This psychological role will require excellent communication skills, and will be involved in facilitating safe and effective transition of people both into, and out of, the ward, working as a key part of the MDT. It’s expected that this role will include assessment and case formulation of people’s needs, at a time when people admitted to the ward are feeling their most vulnerable and confused (and which may be exacerbated by the impact of Covid-19), and you will be expected to provide supervision, teaching, training and consultancy work for a significant part of your time. This post is based at the Caludon Centre, and the Principal Clinical Psychologist for this area will be based on site, providing any necessary support and guidance as helpful. We are a growing group of psychologists, with psychology provision on every ward and in most urgent care teams, as well as robust clinical leadership structures, with additional psychologists not linked to a team per se, but overseeing psychological provision in a specific service area. Each service area has a Principal Psychologist in post to support delivery of psychological principles at the level of the team and all teams in a given area. The Principal Psychologists are in turn supported by one of four Consultant Psychologists - one for each broad service area. We are a friendly group, that meets regularly, and there is much opportunity for both formal and informal contact with peers.Specialist areas of interest (and accredited practitioners in some of these fields) within the Acute Psychological Services team include CBT, CFT, ACT, CAT, DBT, and EMDR. Specialist interest groups also meet regularly including a focus on trauma, CFT and ACT, and staff are actively encouraged to pursue their special interests. We have close links with the Coventry & Warwick D. Clin. Psych & Warwick Research Masters course and regularly offer specialist placements. There is a memorandum of understanding with Warwick and Coventry Universities to support the Acute Services Research Hub and there will be opportunities for service development, audit, and research. Indeed, we are developing research ideas currently with a view to securing funding for this, so if you are interested in joining a busy, diverse, and energetic team, please give us a call!We will interview for all posts jointly on the date above and candidates are invited to specify which post they are applying for on their application form. Candidates interested in full-time as well as part-time hours are encouraged to apply and many of our staff work part time and flexibly. We have a strong ethos of looking after our staff and we work hard to ensure that people’s strengths and skills are evident and nurtured and people feel happy to come to work. Psychology is seen as a valuable resource across our Inpatient and Urgent care teams and wards, and you will receive robust supervision and line management support, from within Acute Psychological Services. Please note at the site specified car parking is free. For further information please contact:Dr Eleni Theodosi, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Lead Psychologist for Treatment wards, Rehab, and PICUs: email: Tel (Tues, Wed & Thurs)
