Job Description

Network Engineer Higher Education/ CiscoUp to £450 day rate (Inside IR35)Hybrid- Midlands I am looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a highly reputable university going through a large-scale transformation. This is initially a 3-month contract with a likelihood to be extended for at least another 6 months.In this role as a Network Engineer, you will be developing, managing and supporting network products and services deployed on behalf of the organisation.To be successful as a Network Engineer in this position, you will need to:

  • Design components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architecture, design standard and patterns.
  • Undertake routine installations and de-installations of hardware/software products.
  • Manage aspects of the product lifecycle, working with colleagues across the business to enable effective customer support.
  • Use data centre management tools and carry out routine audit and checks to ensure adherences to policies and procedures.
Mandatory skills:
  • Network Switching and Routing (protocols - STP, VTP, BGP, EIGRP)
  • Firewall skills -
    • Cisco (ASA, Firepower)
    • Palo Alto
    • Fortinet
  • VPN configuration
Desirable skills:
  • Cisco Wireless (WLC, Cisco Prime)
  • Cisco ISE
  • Solarwinds
  • Cisco VOIP
  • Cisco DNA
This role will require working on call (paid overtime) to facilitate around the clock support.
