Job Description

HGV Mechanic / Technician who has detailed experience as an HGV Technician / Mechanic and be familiar with modern commercial vehicles is required for a well-established company based in Coventry, West Midlands.SALARY: Negotiable Depending on ExperienceLOCATION: Coventry, West MidlandsJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentJOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for an HGV Mechanic / Technicianwho has detailed experience as an HGV Technician / Mechanic and be familiar with modern commercial vehicles.Working as the HGV Mechanic / Technician you will look after a fleet of 8 HGVs and Trailers, with 40 plus LGV Vans with a dedicated bay / single inspection pit.As the HGV Mechanic / Technician your work will also include Service and Pre-MOT checks.APPLY TODAYIf this job looks like your ideal position, then please send in your CV as soon as possible for our Recruitment Team to review.DUTIESYour duties as an HGV Mechanic / Technician include:

  • Routine Maintenance: Conducting regular inspections and maintenance of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and LGV Vans, including Low Loaders and Flatbeds
  • Trailer Expertise: Demonstrating proficiency in working with various HGV trailers, particularly Low Loaders and Flatbeds, to ensure their optimal performance and adherence to safety standards
  • MOT Preparation: Carrying out pre-testing and MOT preparation activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Diagnosis and Repairs: Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical issues, conducting effective repairs, and ensuring all work is completed to a high standard
  • Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and relevant documentation
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Industry Recognised Qualifications or Time Served: Possession of recognised qualifications in HGV mechanics, such as NVQ or City & Guilds or time served
  • Commercial Experience: Must have detailed experience as a HGV Mechanic and be familiar with modern commercial vehicles
  • Trailer Experience: Proven experience working with a variety of HGV trailers, including expertise with Low Loaders and Flatbeds
  • MOT Prep Experience: Hands-on experience in preparing vehicles for MOT testing, ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to effectively address mechanical issues and implement solutions
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues
  • Desirable: IRTEC trained would be beneficial but not essential
