Job Description

About the RoleJoining an exciting and growing team, the Head - Office of the CIO role is to improve business outcomes by providing a consistent way to connect and track the business value to technology investments, allowing the Chief Information and Transformation Officer(CITO) and the IDG Senior Leadership team to focus on strategic and operational delivery.The alignment of business value to technology investments is achieved by the application relevant parts of the Technology Business Management Council’s framework, including Governance across the business operation lifecycle, typically encompassing:

  • Strategic Planning and Ideation
  • Target Operating Model Management
  • Financial Planning Cycle
  • Cost management
  • Value Management and Financial Controls
The Office of the CIO’ requires holding to account of operational leaders for performance on behalf of the CITO by monitoring, review and challenge of operational metrics (KPIs, KRIs, OKRs etc.), the co-ordination of cross-functional continuous improvementactivities and the provision of support to the IDG Senior Leadership Team.About YouYou’ll be experienced and excited by:Technology Business Management
  • Develop and implement a Technology Business Management framework that will allow the University to translate technology investment to business value and apply continuous improvements to the framework to further drive value.
  • Participate (and lead where appropriate) in technology planning and ideation processes, providing commercial input (e.g. funding models, budget impact analysis) to facilitate decision making process and ensure that financial plans align with technologyroadmap.
  • Work with stakeholders within and outside of IDG to provide demand and capacity management on an ongoing basis for both assets/technology and resource/workforce.
  • Undertake financial planning including budgeting and forecasting over different time horizons (short/medium/long term) to support business growth and transformation.
  • Work with IDG teams to ensure efficient use of resources when deploying products and services, identifying and realising opportunities for cost optimisation and efficiencies.
You’ll understand the importance, impact and ways to land:Governance
  • Implement, monitor and review appropriate performance metrics to ensure the realisation of value and alignment with business goals across services, infrastructure, products and projects, recommending/owning actions as appropriate and acting with the delegatedauthority of the CITO to review and challenge as appropriate. Proactively look for opportunities to evolve metrics based on best practice and continuously improve reporting mechanisms. Holding to account of operational leaders for performance on behalf ofthe CITO by monitoring, review and challenge of operational metrics (KPIs, KRIs, OKRs etc.),
  • Establish and maintain cost transparency across IDG services and communicate cost information to stakeholders. Ensure showback/chargeback models are in place to appropriately allocate costs to business units. Champion cost efficiencies to reinvest.
  • Work with strategic vendor management function to ensure appropriate cost management and value creation across the IDG supply chain. Work with the Head of Enterprise Architecture to ensure the alignment of the Target Operating Model across IDG and ensuresupporting financial processes and structures are in place.
