Job Description

Here at Stonewater, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Health & Safety.This newly created role will lead on the creation and delivery of a certified Health & Safety management system for the business, ensuring that Health, Safety and Wellbeing of colleagues is at the forefront of everything Stonewater does.You will act as the business’ competent source of advice for all Health & Safety matters and lead on the design and delivery of a Health & Safety strategy for the business. You will lead on the creation, design and control of a comprehensive policy and processframework and design and deliver a program of Tier 1 assurance audits across the business operations to identify non-conformance and drive continuous improvement. You will also provide advice and support to colleagues regarding Health & Safety and risk management,and in conjunction with the Governance team, maintain a corporate Health & Safety risk register and Health & Safety legal requirements register.The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH).
  • Hold a post graduate degree in Occupational Health & Safety or NEBOSH National Diploma.
  • Hold an ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certificate.
  • Have demonstrable experience of working within a social housing organisation (or similar).
  • Be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge regarding Health & Safety statutory instruments, British Standards, and sector guidance.
  • Have experience of designing, embedding, and leading on an ISO 45001 system.
  • Have experience of carrying out site inspections and audits to identify non-conformance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels and produce coherent, written documentation.
  • Be a people person with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and key internal and external stakeholders.
