Job Description

Financial Controls ManagerContract Duration TBCHourly Rate NegotiableCoventry BasedMy client is seeking an experienced Financial Controls Manager to join their busy Coventry based teamDaily Activities

  • Train, coach and mentor team members in your speciality area.
  • Pass on knowledge in an organised way
  • Manages the performance of team members, identifies opportunities for own and teams development, promotes effective team working and competence development
  • Lead and embed positive safety culture and process safety within team to improve collective safety performance ensuring adherence to company policy, aims and objectives
  • Deliver and take ownerships of a service within agreed internal and external process, procedure, timescales and expectations
  • Identify improvement opportunities through process changes and innovation and deliver into the business
  • Lead and manage all aspects of key processes and systems
  • Lead, develop and motivate the team to ensure delivery of projects and objectives in a timely; safe and cost-effective manner to required governance with a considered customer focus
  • Promotes a positive safety culture through visible proactive, consistent and influential behaviours
  • Maximise opportunities to apply process improvement and best practice methodologies (where appropriate) to improve process efficiency
  • Actively demonstrate and promote client values, and positively contribute to a customer oriented approach
  • Design and monitor appropriate metrics to ensure effective performance and continuous improvement in the work of the team
  • Manage and build excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Understand the difference between diversity and inclusion and what is meant by creating an inclusive environment
  • Qualifications Required
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent Ideally membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IIA, CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) but if the candidate can demonstrate adequate experience and knowledge required this may be acceptable
  • Practical Experience* Excellent knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance experience (execution, testing and consolidation)* Extensive and detailed experience of implementing and managing ongoing compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and or PCAOB* Experience and/or knowledge of regulatory or operational controls, or wider internal control frameworks for Gas Distribution businesses* Ability to understand and critically assess and map business processes and controls* Strong technical accounting or auditing skills with a working knowledge of tax and company law* Knowledge and experience of other internal and external compliance frameworks* Strong leadership and influencing skills in relation to stakeholder management* Experience in managing teams- strong people, performance management, coaching and influencing skills* Experience of writing Process Flow Commentaries, Risk and Control Matrices (RACM) & test scripts.* Proficient use and knowledge of business systems and analytical tools (Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)* Demonstrates detailed knowledge and understanding of the elements of a robust control environment, with practical experience of developing internal control frameworks across a number of environments.* Stakeholder management* Influencing and decision making skills* Compliance Management* Team leadership* Performance Management Required skills
