Job Description

A great opportunity to join an automotive engineering and manufacturing company as a Design Engineer based at their facility in Coventry. You will be responsible for product design and development of automotive components and systems from concept throughto production.What youll be doing:

  • Liaise with internal and external customers to define requirements and specifications for new products
  • Create initial concept schemes
  • Generate and manage design release schedules to meet customer requirements
  • Work with Manufacturing and Quality departments to ensure a robust and cost-effective design of products
  • Manage CAD models and assemblies utilising best practice surfacing and solid modelling techniques
  • Review and check component and assembly drawings including GD and T, specifications and finishes
Skills helpful for the role:
  • Degree in Engineering discipline or Product Design, M.Eng./M.Sc. preferred
  • Significant experience of Computer Aided Design, preferably Catia V5
  • Understanding and experience of design techniques and methodologies
  • Ability to find robust, elegant, and innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • A good understanding of materials and methods-of-manufacture
  • Detailed knowledge of plastic injection moulding and other high-volume manufacturing processes
