About The RoleAt Coventry Building Society we are on an exciting journey and investing in our core IT infrastructure. We are now seeking a talented IT Technical Solutions manager for our Database team who has a strong hands-on technical background and team management experience, who can help to both lead our tenured team of database infrastructure engineers and can collaborate with our IT colleagues to enable successful delivery.This role is based in a project facing technology team that is responsible for the future delivery and change of IT infrastructure. The solutions we deliver are transitioned to our IT Service teams to provide future support. Werelooking for a strong people manager who also has great focus and experience in database technologies, and in designing and delivering quality solutions through their team.Your experience means you will be familiar with driving design direction and decisions and are comfortable guiding and coaching other technical specialists to ensure consistent quality. You will ensure that solutions are delivered to agreed timelines, delivering business requirements and are aligned to strategic infrastructure architecture, roadmaps, standards and policies. You will bring industry aligned skills and knowledge that enable you to inform strategic direction and provide technical leadership. Ultimately helping the society to be a fast adopter of tested infrastructure and achieve it’s business results.About YouEssential skills and experience:• Oracle RDBMS • Dataguard and high availability. • RMAN backup and recovery. • SQL Server Database (2005, 2008, 2012) installation & management • Performance tuning and monitoring. • Technical Engineering team coaching and management Desirable Skills:• OID/SSO • E-business suite (HR/Finance) • Experience of Oracle based applications (both backend and mid-tier). • Experience of running bespoke .net applications running on large Oracle databases. • Oracle Application Server (forms and reports). • Netezza Data Warehouse appliance and change data capture. Knowledge:• Knowledge of systems management procedures in a large commercial, mission-critical environment. • Capacity planning, performance tuning, proactive monitoring. • Change control, release procedures and tools. • ITIL based service management frameworkAbout The CompanyIT at the Coventry is changing; we are currently undertaking an exciting transformation project that will shape the future of the organisation.
