Alexander Daniels are looking to recruit a Controls manager at this time of transformation and growth.This is a key role reporting into the Director of Finance and will be managing the business control environment and leading the team responsible for the internal control framework and compliance with best practice and legislation.Key accountabilities will include:* Leading, managing, and developing a team responsible for ensuring key Financial and Regulatory processes operate under a robust controls framework, responding to internal requirements and evolving external regulation.* Providing insight and driving best practice within the controls and compliance framework including ownership and delivery of the annual review and testing plans.* Continuously reviewing and assessing the controls framework to ensure it remains appropriate and fit for purpose for the organisation.* Acting as an interface across the function lines to ensure linkages with end to end business process controls and internal and external compliance frameworks* Working closely with IT to ensure the controls associated with financial systems are properly maintained and operated in support of the broader financial controls framework.* Leading the interface with our external auditor to ensure the business continues to deliver to audit requirements and that implementation of audit points is carried out by process owners and control owners.* Interfacing with Finance leads, Treasury Leads, Tax compliance and Legal functions on changes to policies and procedures, external regulations and legislation, highlight these to function area leads* Consulting with the Process Owners and Control owners and any external Service Provider(s) to identify ongoing assurance requirements and ensure all relevant documentation is kept up to date and maintained to an appropriate standard* Critically reviewing controls testing work performed by others, identifying any weaknesses with the testing approach or documentation and providing constructive feedback.* Applying judgement in the interpretation of results in subjective areas reaching robust defendable conclusionsRequired experience* Excellent knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance experience* Educated to degree level or equivalent* Qualified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)* Extensive and detailed experience of implementing and managing ongoing compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley * Experience and/or knowledge of regulatory or operational controls, or wider internal control frameworks * Ability to understand and critically assess and map business processes and controls* Strong technical accounting or auditing skills with a working knowledge of tax and company law* Strong knowledge and experience of other internal and external compliance frameworks* Strong leadership and influencing skills in relation to stakeholder management* Experience in managing teams- strong people, performance management, coaching and influencing skills* Experience of writing Process Flow Commentaries, Risk and Control Matrices (RACM) & test scripts* Proficient use and knowledge of business systems and analytical tools (Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)* Ability to demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of the elements of a robust control environment, with practical experience of developing internal control frameworks across a number of environments.
