Job Description

Buyer- required for our client to assist on a variety of projects including Geotechnical works on HS2 based out of the companies Coventry office. The Buyer will be working for a well-known company within the industry and be given experttraining and development working alongside the established growing Purchasing and Logistics team.The Buyer will have some knowledge of procurement or experience within a similar role within the construction sector. The buyer will be ensuring a close understanding and up-to-date knowledge of material and plant hire markets, products and suppliers. TheBuyer will be responsible for communicating between site supervisors and suppliers to ensure delivery of goods in a timely manner and within budget on each project. The Buyer will appraise suppliers, select suppliers from the approved suppliers list, issueenquiries and orders and liaise closely with various key stakeholders.Buyer Position Overview

  • Assist in the day to day operations of the Central Procurement department
  • Acquire quotes and negotiate prices for goods and services and support Estimators with acquiring quotes, and offering supplier and material recommendations.
  • Maintain a good relationship with client and other departments
  • Monitor and record supplier performance
  • Support the Procurement & Logistics function as required
  • Progress the delivery of orders resolving any discrepancies with suppliers and to manage invoice queries.
  • Communicating between site supervisors and suppliers to ensure delivery of goods in a timely manner and within budget on each project
  • Appraise suppliers, select suppliers from the approved suppliers list, issue enquiries and orders and liaise closely with various key stakeholders
  • Supporting the procurement and operations teams with tendering, market analysis, supplier selection, risk and opportunity assessments, forecasting requirements
Buyer Position Requirements
  • Either educated to A-level standard
  • Proven experience within buying materials for site and plant hire ppe ect,
  • Good commercial awareness and be organised
  • 1+ years experience working in the purchasing environment
  • Experience in the civils/groundworks/piling sectors
  • Either educated to A-Level standard, CIPS Level 4 Qualified or proven experience in a purchasing environment.
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and communication skills both verbally and written
  • Exceptional IT skills - Microsoft packages
  • Knowledge of purchasing software would be advantageous
Buyer Position Remuneration
  • Salary up to £30K DOE
  • 26 Days holiday + BH
  • WFH options
  • 37 hours per week and overtime paid
