Job Description

Job Title and Grade: Band 6 - Senior PhysiotherapistLocation/Trust: Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership NHS TrustDepartment Covered: Central HubbThe Role:There is an ongoing requirement for travel with this post, the post holder will be required to have a full driving licence and car.The post holder will:

  • To provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment and review of patients with a wide variety of conditions including neurological, orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, care of the elderly, respiratory and falls, to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions,contribute to effective admission avoidance and support patients with complex health care needs. This will be for patients predominantly in their place of residence, but will include clinic and other settings.
  • To provide advice and guidance to others, patients, carers and staff working in health and social care.
  • To support professional development of the staff within the Out of Hospital Service and other services as appropriate.
  • To support and contribute toward service development and meeting Key Performance Indicators.
  • To participate in 7 day working rotas to ensure delivery of key services..
We provide a wide range of mental health and learning disability services for people of all ages, along with several community physical health services for people in Coventry.We provide inpatient, community and day clinics, as well as specialist services, to a population of about 1 million people living in Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull, and some specialist services to a wider geographical area.Our services are provided from more than 60 locations. To be an integral part of the Out of Hospital Service To effectively manage a caseload of patients as part of a multudisciplinary team (MDT), providing specialist and evidence based assessment and interventions to patients in both a stable and acute phase of their condition, ensuring the physical, psychosocial,behavioural, perceptual, cognitive, sensory and environmental needs of patients, are addressed. Utilising specialist knowledge and clinical reasoning, to plan and provide clinical interventions in consultation with other colleagues in the multidisciplinary team and to work in a range of settings as appropriate (e.g. patients home, work environmentor other community setting). To adopt a patient centred and sensitive approach to therapy, collaborating with patients (and/or carer(s) where appropriate) in all aspects of the therapy process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, reporting). To utilise individual and/or group work skills as appropriate in order to achieve agreed therapeutic goals To have a high level of knowledge of a variety of conditions including neurological, orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, care of the elderly, respiratory and falls and specialist knowledge of at least one of these clinical areas. To demonstrate highly developed communication and motivational skills to facilitate patients to manage their condition. To demonstrate the ability to deliver or discuss difficult diagnosis and prognosis with tact, empathy, managing distressed or aggressive patients or carers / relatives.To apply for this post, you will have:
