Job Description

I am recruiting for a Purchasing Manager to join my client on the outskirts of Norwich. This is a full time, permanent position and once probation has passed, there will be an opportunity for some hybrid working. Parking is available free on site.Daily duties:

  • Recommend, develop, present and execute procurement strategies across all purchasing.
  • Line management to the Purchasing team
  • Manage the Purchasing team on a daily basis and ensure day to day management of all supplier accounts
  • Evaluate and selection of new suppliers, general purchasing transactions, inventory controls, on time order delivery and control of costs.
  • Manage the technical purchasing process.
  • Manage and mitigate purchasing risk associated with single sourcing and obsolescence.
  • Increase value within the supply chain through actively decreasing waste and improving process.
  • Seek to reduce purchase price variance by developing purchasing strategies and new suppliers.
  • Report on purchasing KPIs and present at meetings where appropriate
  • Assist and head continuous improvement projects
  • Create policies and procedures for risk managementand mitigation.
  • Take the lead in developing and monitoring improvements to the processes used in Purchasing
  • Create and maintain best practice guides
  • Re-assign duties within the purchasingteam
  • Responsible for day to day managementof designated supplier accounts
  • Research, interview, evaluate and recommend new suppliers with appropriate team buyers
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain improved pricing
  • Raise and manage purchase orders generated on the company business system.
  • Apply and enforce the company Defective Material Report system
  • Any other dutieswhich are necessary within the Purchasing department
Requirements for the role:
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Purchasing experience in an MRP driven manufacturing environment
  • Experience of value stream mapping and evidence of successful implementation
  • Team leadership
  • Working knowledge of IT tools and systems
  • Experience of supplier evaluation and selection
  • Full driving license
