Job Description

Transport Manager - CorytonSalary c£49k, plus London Weighting Allowance and excellent benefitsWe are looking for a Transport Manager for our Coryton site.In this role, you will play a crucial part in the management team, leading, motivating, and managing staff and drivers to execute delivery schedules for the distribution of gas supplies.Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage checks and controls to uphold fleet safety and reliability, collaborating closely with vehicle maintenance service providers to minimize downtime.
  • Understand and implement relevant legislation and standards, liaise with internal specialists and regulatory authorities, and continuously improve safety performance.
  • Maintain strict security of property and products, including serving as an emergency call-out key holder and attending call-outs when required.
  • Utilise working knowledge of relevant legislation, safety, quality procedures, and site operating instructions.
  • Deliver regular company briefings on Safety and Performance to all employees.
  • Ensure sites under your control are maintained in line with company policies and external regulatory authorities.
  • Budgeting and Expenditure:
  • Work with senior management to prepare budgets and manage expenditure within specified parameters.
  • Prioritise the customer in decision-making processes and ensure employees are trained to deliver excellent customer service in all areas of the cylinder and bulk business.
  • Lead the dispatching and scheduling functions for the area, ensuring all planned delivery schedules consider driver and vehicle compliance with relevant transport regulations.
  • Coach, mentor, and plan appropriate training and development for all staff and drivers.
  • Conduct performance reviews in line with company procedures to create a robust and efficient operation that meets financial targets and KPIs.
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
  • Proven skills in people management and leadership.
  • Ability to organize resources according to customer needs and company service levels through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Sound working knowledge of current transport regulations and directives.
  • Ideally, a minimum of 3 years experience at management or supervisory level in a service-oriented environment, with financial experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of current employment legislation.
  • ADR certificate or experience with hazardous goods is preferred.
  • Formal safety qualification preferred (e.g., IOSHH, NEBOSH).
  • Possession of a Transport Management CPC.
  • Ability to use company software packages, including TrakM8, Trutac Paragon, and SAP, to enhance service delivery, improve driver performance, and provide the best possible customer experience.
