Job Description

Production Technical SpecialistAbout usAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join an award winning, market leading and family owned business that serves customers, patients and medical professionals. We are located in amodernmanufacturing and office facility in Corsham SciencePark in Wiltshire, just 5 miles from Chippenham and 8 miles from Bath. The Pharmaxo Group comprises of:Bath ASU which produces thousands of aseptically compounded injectable pharmaceutical products each day for hospitals and patients across the UK who are fighting cancer, living with chronic disease or in need of pain relief.Pharmaxo Healthcare which is a growing clinical homecare provider in an expanding market offering greater convenience to patients whilst delivering efficiencies to the NHS.Pharmaxo Scientific holds and develops intellectual property, which is currently licensed to the group’s other operating subsidiaries.Your roleReporting to the Head of Operational Excellence & Technical at Bath ASU, this role will be responsible for ensuring the production processes run smoothly and efficiently.The job holder will be working with all other support functions to deliver significant performance improvements in People, Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.They will balance their workload with day-to-day problem solving and long-term, larger-scale processimprovements, flow, and equipment improvements.Your duties & responsibilities

  • Own problem solving to ensure our processes are capable, repeatable, and reliable
  • Analyse and collect data to make problems visible
  • Utilise formal problem-solving techniques appropriate for the type of problem to solve
  • Run multiple practical problem solving and six sigma projects concurrently
  • Determine root cause and robust countermeasures
  • Own the implementation of countermeasures
  • Revise SOPs with the latest best practices
  • Assist with the updates of training material for the same best practices
  • Play an active part in improvement activities within the Quality Management System
  • Drive improvements through the Change Control process to ensure compliance throughout
  • Conduct Value Stream Design events to improve material and information flow
  • Implement the lean guidelines to eliminate waste
  • Balance flow and workload through implementation of level-loading techniques
  • Reduce errors in the manufacturing process, eliminating the need for remakes
  • Reduce scrap costs in line with budget
  • Use statistical analysis to improve process capability
  • Working across functions, play an integral role in the adoption of new equipment and Capex proposals
  • Assist with the documentation of planned maintenance activities, the planning of deep clean schedules and the timely upkeep of all validations
  • Identify and drive changes in the bespoke production / IT systems for improved business processes
  • Initiate and revise production documentation to standards that are clear and executable
  • Create flow through implementation of lean manufacturing techniques
  • Target improvements in Right First Time
  • Work with our production, IT, and maintenance systems to ensure compliance and look for new opportunities
  • Manage projects across functions to ensure the delivery of improvements on time, in budget and maintaining compliance
  • Provide an exemplary technical service to the production team
  • Act as a champion for change, and a role model for lean manufacturing and the adoption of six sigma
  • Ensure principles of GMP are always applied
  • Be a member of the ‘on call’ team on a rota basis

  • Salary of £45,000 per annum
  • Annual leave of 25 days + bank holidays (increasing to 27 days after 3 years service)
  • Annual company bonus scheme (subject to scheme eligibility)
  • Pension - you will be auto-enrolled after 3 months of employment at 5% (with an employer contribution of 4%). You can also opt to increase your contribution to 6% to which the employer will contribute 8%.
