About DIOThe Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the estate expert for Defence, supporting the armed forces to enable military capability by planning, building, maintaining, and servicing infrastructure. Our responsibilities include: • Plan and deliver major capital projects and lifecycle refurbishment • Provide utilities services • Manage soft facilities management (i.e. cleaning and catering) • Provide a safe place to train • Allocate Service Families Accommodation • Procure and manage routine maintenance and reactive repair • Provide a central register of asset information to advise infrastructure planning • Act as steward of the Defence estate • Provide the unarmed guarding service We employ approximately 4,900 staff from a very diverse range of professions including head office functions and specialisms such as surveyors, town planners, airfield pavement experts, foresters and construction engineers. You can view our YouTube video to see more about our workJob descriptionThe ChallengeWorking in the heart of the Defence Infrastructure Organisations Private Finance Initiative (PFI) team, this post provides an excellent opportunity for Professional Development. As the PFI Business Support Manager you will provide direct support to PFI senior management to deliver the PFI Group’s objectives and outputs. You will also support the wider PFI Group and DIO business as required. As such the tasks of this role will be wide ranging and often fast paced. You will be expected to lead by example in setting the highest professional standards and living the DIO Values. You will also value the one member of staff and enable their personal and professional development. You will need to be work under your own initiative, determine priorities, and be agile to changing demands. You will be key in supporting, indeed leading on elements, of the PFI business. This includes business planning, monitoring performance, analysis of interpretation, provisions of advice and preparation of reports as required. You will be instrumental in supporting and enabling decision making within the PFI Group though these activities, and the ability to present information and analysis succinctly will be key. Engagement across the PFI Group, supply chain, DIO and customer base will be a key activity and enabler of success. You will use this network to develop insight, inform decision making, and communicate key messages. This will require the development of first-class communication and engagement products including briefs, presentations, content for digital platforms etc. You will also be a key liaison with the South East and PFI Regional Support Team and support improved integration.Responsibilities• Leading and managing the team • Plan, manage and advise on PFI business, including actions, risks, issues, data analysis, presentations and briefs • Secretariat support to a range of meetings and events • Establish and maintain a strong network of contacts to ensure timely engagement on issues and tasks • Influence and inform stakeholders on PFI business and provide the PFI perspective • Champion and promote collaborative working and encourage participation in tasks and events within the PFI Group and wider DIO. • Fulfil the role of the PFI Engagement Champion • Support improvement initiatives Some travel to PFI and DIO locations will be required. The position can be located in any of the locations listed above. Your preferred location can be discussed at interview.
