Job Description

A Security Cleared Network Architect is required for a large Defence organisation.Due to the nature of the environment, it is essential that you hold current and valid Security ClearanceThis role will focus on consulting, strategy, architecture, high-level design and technical leadership for the following types of projects:

  • DC LAN/Campus LAN Network - architecting, designing, building and testing. Including connectivity to Private/Public cloud platforms, utilising physical and virtual network appliances (LTMs, Proxies, Firewalls). Advanced L3 networking.
  • Software Defined Networking - architecting, designing, building and testing. Including security policy development, automation, orchestration and scripting.
  • Wide Area Network - architecting, designing, building and testing. Including MPLS, Public and Software Defined WAN.
  • Perimeter Network - architecting, designing, building secure enterprise perimeters and installing virtual/physical appliances focusing on secure access and secure cloud connectivity.
  • Private Cloud - designing, implementing and managing networks that support private cloud solutions.
  • Public Cloud - designing, implementing and managing networks that support secure public cloud connectivity.
    • Essential Network Architect Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum experience level of 6 years, with evidence of exposure to complex Network projects during this time.
  • Proven ability to produce architecture road maps, non-functional requirements and high-level designs.
  • Proven ability to select products and services.
  • A good working knowledge of IP, Ethernet, routing and switching within LAN/WAN/Data Centre/ Public Cloud environments is essential.
    • Experience with latest generation of networking technologies is highly desirable e.g.:
  • oSoftware Defined Networking such as Cisco ACI, APIC, MSO (Multi Site Orchestrator), NAE (Network Assurance Engine).
  • oSD WAN e.g. Cisco vManage; SD Access e.g. DNAC, APIC EM, Cisco ISE.
  • oAutomation/Orchestration: Network stack integration, Ansible, Python, JSON, APIs.
  • oNetwork Function Virtualisation such as VMware NSX
  • Security products e.g. Algosec and Tufin. Firewalls: Cisco (+Firepower Threat Defense), FortiGate, Fortinet SD-WAN solution.
  • Tooling e.g. Cisco Tetration.
  • Additional experience with load balancers, hardware proxy devices, IDS/AV, and Voice technologies would be desirable.
  • Experience with key vendors, primarily Cisco (IOS, NX-OS, ACI) / F5 (LTM, GTM, ASM) / Bluecoat / Fortigate / Checkpoint, other vendor experience is welcome and beneficial.
