You will be a key part of the Operations Team based out of Corsham and are responsible for the maintenance and administrationof the platform. The Linux System Administrators ensure that all services are running properly, and their work is critical to the operational delivery of the service; they monitor the system for health and compliance and troubleshoot problems that arise, callingout to other parties to work together on issues. The role will give the successful applicant a chance to utilise their Linux skills within a Big Data environment.Located in Corsham, due to the secure nature of his project you will need to travel to site 3-4 days a week. Your future duties and responsibilitiesThe Linux System Administrator will be responsible for:Monitor system health and performanceInvestigate and remediate complex technical issuesCarry out system administration tasks such as OS patching and server builds Plan and deliver changes to the infrastructureBe proactive in recommending system improvementsMake changes to Ansible code and merge them into the codebaseProduce technical documentation including Work Instructions and Change PlansJoin the on-call support rota once confident administering the platform Required qualifications to be successful in this roleThe ideal candidate for the Linux system Administrator role will have the following attributes: Minimum five years Linux experience gained in an operational environment Demonstrable experience of application and user supportIn-depth Linux knowledge with exposure to some of the following: Docker; KVMs; Ansible; Git; system performance tuning and troubleshooting; patching and upgrade procedures; server monitoring with tools like Prometheus and GrafanaSolid knowledge of system backup and restore proceduresAble to write high-quality, accurate documentation detailing routine system administrative tasks such as restoring services from back-ups, how to restart services or troubleshoot issues.
