Job Description

Job PurposeBased in Corsham, Wiltshire we are looking for a full time Grounds Working SupervisorBecoming part of our dedicated and friendly team you should have excellent communication skills and be capable of managing and working with operatives as part of the estate maintenance crew, ensuring that all work is carried out to a high standard and deliver an outstanding service to our client and customers. You will need to be adaptable, reliable, motivated & able to prioritise workloads and have previous experience of leading a small team.The working hours are 08:00 – 16:30 Hrs Monday – FridayWe are looking for an immediate start but will be flexible with notice periodsMOD Security clearance will be required with this role (proof of the right to work in the UK is Essential)Responsibilities:Responsible to Senior Technical Planner for ensuring all maintenance tasks are completed to a high and safe standard:

  • Providing update reports to the Senior Technical planner
  • Communicating with the customers and senior stakeholders
  • Managing and organising specialist sub contract work
  • Planning and supervising the grounds maintenance team on a daily basis
  • Team briefings, PPE checks Compliance with Health and Safety and all operational compliance.
  • Grass cutting of areas across site and some off site areas.
  • General gardening work including weeding of beds on site.
  • Leaf blowing & collection around site.
  • Winter road maintenance, including gritting and snow clearance – out of hours will be required
  • Marking out of full size sports pitches.
  • Hedge cutting on site & off site.
  • Chainsaw work
  • General grounds maintenance duties.
  • Litter Picking across site.
  • On call as required for winter maintenance this includes an additional on call payments.
  • Assist with Hard services team for general tasks as required.
    • What we are looking for: Knowledge Skills and Experience:
  • Likely to have previous experience as a Supervisor within a Grounds Maintenance role – Supervisor 1 year, Operative minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with reviewing and compiling Method statements and Risk assessments
  • Some qualifications/ training certificates in operating grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of grounds/ sports pitch maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to a high standard.
  • Full UK driving licence including B + E Trailer
  • Experience with Ride on Mowers and compact Tractors
  • Must be willing to join on call team for out of hours road gritting etc. (on call runs from November to March
  • Additional paid overtime available
    • Desirable:
  • IOSH qualification – working/ Managing safely would be an advantage – Training can be provided
  • First aid qualification – Training can be provided
  • Chainsaw qualification
  • Mechanical knowledge and experience of maintaining grounds equipment would be an advantage.
  • To hold or be able to work towards obtaining Pesticides Spraying Qualification’s: PA1 safe handling & application of pesticides, PA6A Hand held applicators on land & PA2 Boom Sprayer.
  • B + E Trailer licence.
  • Experience in Civil engineering and block paving would be an advantage
