Job Description

Workshop ManagerHave you previously managed a small team in a workshopAre you a hands on managerAre you looking for a new role in a specialist companySearch are proud to be working with a specialist engineering company on the recruitment of a Workshop Manager. The role is as a working supervisor so in addition to hands on stripping, inspection and assembly of pumps and other equipment, the candidate willbe responsible for the supervision of a small team of service engineers in the dis-assembly, inspection, reporting and repair/re-assembly of various pieces of rotating equipment that includes main boiler feed pumps, vertical pit pumps, split case pumps androtating elements.This is a full time permanent role based in Consett.Responsibilities

  • To ensure safe working practices are adhered to and assist in the improvement of safe processes.
  • Timely planning, dis-assembly, inspection, reporting and repair of equipment to pre-determined deadlines.
  • Managing a department of up to ten skilled personnel
  • Responsible for the quality and costs of all work through the department
  • Identification, sourcing and procurement of spares, consumables and tooling.
  • Compiling detailed inspection and build reports for customers
Competencies
  • Experienced mechanical fitter with minimum of 10 years experience in the servicing/dis-assembly/assembly of pumps and rotating equipment.
  • Experience of hydro and performance testing
  • Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship
  • Excellent leadership skills and experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable
  • Hardworking
  • Flexible approach to tasks
  • PC Literate (Microsoft Office tools).
