Job Description

Buyer£28,000 - 30,000 per annum DOEConsett, County DurhamJackson Hogg Supply Chain division are partnering with a well-established and growing manufacturing organisation in Consett, County Durham, on the appointment of a Buyer to join their purchasing team on a full time and permanent basis.The role can offer £28,000-30,000 per annum DOE and will be 5 days per week on site. Working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:00 and Fridays 08:00-13:00.Benefits include 25 days holiday + bank hols as well as a competitive enhanced pension scheme.The Role:

  • Input, control and issue material purchase orders to fulfil necessary material requirements
  • Vendor scheduling ensuring materials are pro-actively expedited and delivered to meet scheduled order requirements
  • Administrative handling of material items
  • Ensure minimum material stock levels are maintained in order to prevent stock overage or obsolescence
  • Report on vendor performances
  • Ensure purchasing procedures and practices are continually maintained and improved upon
  • Analyse market trends and apply knowledge to help make decisions
  • Liaise with Purchasing Manager and Materials Management Team Leader regarding vendor problems
  • Organise and manage vendor account and related meetings
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing suppliers while identifying new ones
  • Participate in cross functional teams across all departments
  • Answering general enquiries and completing office administration work
  • To carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected
Person Specification:
  • Previous experience in a purchasing role is essential
  • Manufacturing purchasing experience would be desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working with IT software and systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Good negotiating skills
