Job Description

We know that our people are our greatest asset and we are delighted to be growing our team further as we have a requirement for a Site SHEQ Advisor (Environmental emphasis) to join our expanding Recycling site in Selby.As the site SHEQ Advisor, you will run the Environmental duties and Health and Safety, provide guidance and advice, identify SHE risks and develop effective risk reduction approaches; monitor performance through the conduct of various checks and audits; develop behavioural improvement programmes; contribute to the development of long-term SHE improvement strategies.This is a very operational and hands on position with the aim to improve the EHS standards and culture. Working with the site General Manager and the Head of Health and Safety, you will work with many different risks and you will have the opportunity to implement your own individual mark onto the site.Duties:

  • Deliver on assigned projects and work programmes ensuring agreed outcomes and success criteria are met or exceeded.
  • Creating and implementing Environmental initiatives to the site
  • Provide guidance, support and advice to Operational Management team on legal guidance compliance and outcomes of risk assessments.
  • Monitor Health and Safety performance on site and report performance information to the site Management Team through observations and LPAs.
  • Support Management Team with investigations of incidents and accidents and ensure appropriate actions are implemented to improve safety practice.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on accident statistics, KPI’s & accident investigations
  • Establish strong relationships with colleagues on other group sites for sharing of best practice.
  • Share experience and best practice across sites to maximise learning opportunities and safe operating practice.
  • Key Skills / Experience:
  • Experience of SHE management in a manufacturing, recycling or similar environment
  • WAMITAB Qualification
  • A practical and pragmatic approach to SHE risk management, with the ability to work with others to find practical solutions
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to influence others
  • An empathetic approach to understand challenges from an operational perspective
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload effectively, working to tight deadlines
  • IOSH / NEBOSH qualification
  • Strong analytical and project management skills with an investigative approach
  • Current in-depth knowledge of H&S and environmental legislation
  • Experience of carrying out HSE assessments (Manual Handling, Noise and Vibration, work process risk assessment)
  • Basic knowledge of waste streams and environmental management
