Job Description

Senior Electrical Development Engineer required to support product development at a leading manufacturer of sophisticated vacuum products, exhaust management systems and related value-added services, integral to the manufacturing processes for semiconductors, flat panel displays, LEDs and solar cells. They are also used within an increasingly diverse range of industrial processes including power, glass and other coating applications; steel and other metallurgy; pharmaceutical and chemical; and for scientific instruments in a wide range of R&D applications.

  • Based in Clevedon, BS21
  • £38,000 - £43,000 per annum
  • 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday
  • 25 days holiday per year + bank holidays

    • Due to Covid-19, this role is currently part home working and part office working. It is anticipated that it the role will be based full time on site in the future. About the job
  • To maintain the design of modules/sub-assemblies of existing products, ensuring that the required safety, reliability, quality and cost targets are met
  • Responsible for the detailed documentation and maintenance of the design (drawings, design data, BOM, test data)
  • To verify that any changes or new designs conform to the relevant design standards by calculation and/or testing as appropriate
  • To coordinate the design and development tasks on larger projects in assistance to the Lead Engineer and Project Manager
  • Use ACADE for updates to existing / generation of new electrical schematics and cable assemblies
  • Check electrical drawing packages, ensuring design specifications are met
  • Provide support for manufacturing if there are issues in build or final test when required

  • A good Electrically biased engineering degree (or other engineering qualification depending on experience)
  • Significant post degree experience of working on whole system design and development in an Engineering environment
  • Experience in directing the work, mentoring and supporting more junior engineers and designers
  • Used to working in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Ability to form and lead teams, coordinating actions to specific goals
  • A high level of CAD skills (AutoCAD Electrical preferred and/or other electrical drafting tools)
  • A good understanding of system electrical schematics and preferably Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
