Job Description

My Bristol based client is currently recruiting for a Data Architect to join the Team on a permanent basis. This role could suit someone with strong on prem MSBI background, who is looking to build and grow into the Azure Data Stack.This role is specifically focused on assisting the organisation to improve the value we can derive from our data. This will be achieved by leveraging the latest technology for preparing, managing and analysing data across combined sources to draw insights.Building upon our cloud data warehousing, data lake and analytics solutions the postholder will work with external partners to develop and embed our overall data platform architecture further, and support analysts around the organisation to make use of thecapability.Role: Data ArchitectLocation: Bristol/ Hybridonsite twice every 2 weeks1 monthSalary: £50,000 - £55,000 pa + benefits and great training opportunities-Demonstrable expertise covering:o Using data analytics solutions to provide outputs that support business decision makingo Solid architectural understanding of modern cloud-based data analytics solutionso Defining and documenting data strategy and related capability maturity modelso Design and use of KPIso Defining and managing an organisational-wide taxonomyo Understanding Information Governance and technology security risks in the context of data strategy and data management operations.o Understanding of relevant legislation such as GDPR and the Data Protection Act.o Strong working knowledge of complex system architecture and an understanding of the limitations of legacy applications and data stores.-Demonstrable technology experience and confidence across these areas:o Data query languages, with consideration for optimisation and efficiencyo Standard relational data stores (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL), application-specific sources exposed through APIs (e.g. SharePoint, Power Platform and Dynamics 365)o Common ETL/ELT, data warehousing and data lake platforms.o Using and teaching applications and tools related to Business Intelligence (e.g. Power BI, Business Objects, Qlik), data classification and cataloguing, data discovery, data mapping and data quality assessment.o Solid understanding of solution design techniques including data and object modelling, interface design and writing design documentation. Highly proficient in using design tools such as Microsoft Visio.-A good understanding of Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and Business and System Analysis concepts and methodologies, (specifically including cost-benefit analysis), and their relevance in the context of organisational data sharing anddata flows.-Excellent communication skills, able to translate concepts and ideas and communicate appropriately to both technical and non-technical audiences.-Desirable experienceo Scripting/programming languages and tools for automation and data manipulation (e.g. Python, PowerShell, R).o Integration approaches and technologies (SOAP/REST APIs, message queues, service bus applications).o Non-relational data stores (e.g. Mongo DB, Cosmos DB).The post holder will be working on cloud data warehousing, data lake and analytics solutions however the client would still accept candidates who have a background in MSBI (SSIS, SSRS & SSAS) who have exposure to Power BI.If you are interested in this role and would like to discuss it further, apply with your most up to date CV ASAP.
