Job Description

Buyer required for permanent, full time role at a technical / engineering company in Clevedon, BS21. Ideally situated next to M5 junction 20, an easy commute from Cheddar, South Bristol or Chew Valley

  • £34,000 per annum
  • Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm
  • Flexibility on working hours - Variable start and finish times possible

About the job
  • Raising purchase orders through various methods and channels
  • Expedite, defer or cancel open order lines.
  • Issuing RFQs, drawing releases, analysing quotes, and setting up new part replenishment profile.
  • Resolve issues relating to accuracy of deliveries, quality rejects, invoice queries, overdue orders, and production shortages.
  • Ensure OTIF from supply base meets the MRP requirements.
  • Identify alternative sources for OEM parts through distributors and work with relevant engineering teams when necessary for technical input.
  • Creation and management of Permits and Engineering Change throughout supply chain
  • Working with Engineering to manage obsolete and replacement parts
  • Developing relationships with suppliers so important requests are handled with the necessary level of urgency.
  • Actively work with the supplier and internal cross-functions on Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Conducting business review meetings over the phone and face to face or at supplier sites
  • Contribute and Lead Supplier Negotiations, with the support of the Senior Buyer
  • Reviewing Supplier Performance and Support Supplier Improvement activities; working closely with Suppliers and SQEs. Highlighting supplier issues and performance concerns to the Senior Buyer.
  • Maintain document records, track personal performance against operational metrics and contribute to departmental reporting.
  • Analyse BoMs and engineering drawings to understand key manufacturing requirements
The right candidate
  • CIPS level 4 or equivalent qualification or equivalent through experience
  • Min 2-3 years experience in Procurement or Engineering
  • Experience with sourcing side of New Product Introduction, Outsourcing, Obsolescence and Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Exposure within a technical engineering environment; understanding of technical information and experience in the purchase of engineering products
  • Understanding of regional/international manufacturing standards.
  • Base knowledge of the PPAP/ISIR system.
