Job Description

A key client require 2x Cool:Gen & OSL Software DevelopersContract Length: 12 monthSector: TransportationRate: Up to £500 a day (PAYE) dependent on skills and experienceIR35: Inside IR35The role:Software Development

Leads on the technical implementation of applications and technical designs including producing cost and timescale estimates and identifying risks. On larger projects works within a technical framework of the project to meet customer requirements.

Software development using both recognised and/or specialist programming languages and technologies

Unit Testing of developed applications

Technical planning within the team

Mentoring junior developers

Working collaboratively supporting and learning from team members

Conduct code reviews for quality assurance

Essential Requirements:

Fluency and experience in CA GEN in a UNIX environment (minimum 5 years)

Experience of using SQL with an Oracle (or equivalent) database (Minimum 2 years)

Fluency in the use of WebLogic and Enterprise Java

Competence in the support of public cloud hosted systems

Experience of assisting business analysts or business representatives to formalise or clarify requirements (minimum 2 years)

Experience in the production of low level technical designs and documentation (minimum 3 years)

Experience in definition and execution of formal unit tests (minimum 3 years)

Experience in mentoring Developers

Experience in system support and continuous improvement

Strong analytical skills

Excellent written communication skills including reports, and technical specifications

Ability to communicate effectively to customers at all levels of the business

Desirable:

Experience of working within an agile system development methodology particularly Scrum

Experience of writing UNIX scripts (working knowledge of C and KORN shell scripting) (minimum 1 year)

Experience of writing PL/SQL scripts on a UNIX platform (minimum 1 year)

Experience of GEN development on an AIX (IBM) platform (minimum 1 year)

Fluency in the use of modern variants of the Java language

Proficiency with web mark-up languages, HTML, CSS and SASS

Proficiency of batch scheduling tools

Proficiency in the use of cloud based PaaS
